THE MOST EXPENSIVE BMW E31 850CSI EVER
I had to take my BMW 650i to the BMW main dealer Barons for a recall - and I could not believe what I saw. It was a 1993 BMW 850csi in their showroom! Not only was it a surprise to see any 1990's BMW in their showroom but this was the absolute pinnacle of the model being a very unusual Individual model.
In this video I investigate its story, who owned it, how many miles it had on the clock and who the original owner was.

Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Месяц назад
Right-angle Wand: amzn.to/3wxFZu5 It's time to clean the soft-top (convertible) again, last time I pressure-washed it and it worked well - but I had to stand on a set of steps. Today I am going to show you how the lazy bloke does it (me) using a right-angle spray head - easy. ALthough I am doing this on my BMW E64 6-Series 650i it is suitable for any BMW soft-top
BMW THE MYSTERY BONG - AND HOW TO FIX IT
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.2 месяца назад
You are driving along in your BMW E31, E32, E34 or E36 and all of a sudden the MID goes BONG!! but doesn't tell you what the problem is. Even pressing the 'CHECK' button doesn't tell you. This video explains what causes the mystery bong and how to fix it. Along the way we are going to remove the boot (trunk) latch mechanism, the boot switch and replace the boot trim with its blind rivets
BMW E31 CSI REAR SPOILER - HOW TO STOP IT FALLING OFF
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 месяца назад
I went out to clean the car one Sunday morning to find that I had lost my rear CSI Spoiler on my BMW E31 840ci Sport - they are held on by plastic hooks and eyes and five rusty clips - and they give up and you will lose the spoiler. This video shows how you can fit it so that it will never fall off again. It's best to do this before you lose it!
BMW E64 WING MIRRORS RESPRAY AND 2K CLEARCOAT

I've no idea why the wing mirrors looked so awful on my BMW 650i in Barberarot Metallic A39 - but I needed to do something about it! I'm using body-colour from Ebay and re-useable clear-coat from Car Rep. And I'm doing the job outside on a windy day. BMW E31 - AT LONG LAST THE FRONT END IS FIXED! REUSUABLE 2K CLEARCOAT!
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
My lower csi spoiler on my BMW 840ci looks perfect! It's been looking awful for years but as it is near the ground I've studiously ignored it. The fix is to flatten the surface and then spray with 2K clear-coat. The trouble is that 2K clear-coat starts hardening in the aerosol after the first use and that is so wasteful. But, I've found re-useable clearcoat that actually mixes as it comes out o...

    I’ve just replaced these gaskets on the M62 in my 840Ci Sport. I thought I was as careful as I could be, given that as you know, in the E31 the back-end of the engine is tucked in right against the bulkhead and you can’t see it. I thought I was successful…..but guess what? I’ve noticed oil on the garage floor! 😢 I can’t actually see or even feel where it’s coming. So, I’m going to give your tip a go and see what happens. I don’t relish the prospect of having to pull everything apart again…..bad back! Thanks for the tip!

But I can't disassemble the round 7-pin connector. They couldn't advise me at BMW either. Don't you have a trick on how to proceed when disassembling the connector? I will be grateful for your advice. Greetings Milo

    HI Tim, great videos and presentation, thank you. Looks like you have my same car, 2004 e64 Chiareto as well. I have not a little over 177,000 miles on it. Yesterday i received what seems to be the dreaded SOS call system malfunction! My BMW "On Call" ofcourse ended years ago. I understand this model did not require a better for the SOS function, do you know if i can use Carly to turn off this message? Can i just try to purchase another TCU and change it out, won't know the life though of the second hand one, i'd be happy to turn off the message. I did see a video about turning off the TCM code 612 , maybe as these cars continue to age , this might be a great video? I'd appreciate you comments, and actually just connecting. Especially since have the same car, and care for it as i have over these 20 + years. Thanks again

    Tim what do you think of an overall quite nice 840ci, but with significant rusting around three of the inner edges of the wheel arches, I guess due to years on salted British roads. The car mechanics/paintwork is quite good everywhere else/inside and out. Can much be done with wheel arches these days?, mostly where they form the edge lip, there is not too much bubbling visible side on. I don't know much about body repairs, but maybe magic can be done by a good body shop, or would you avoid?

    Timm, fff topic-ish; you mentioned a recall of your 650i cab. As I have a 2008 model I might be at risk of fire too. Could you tell me what to look for please? What area to check. Much obliged.

    • @bobbyedal2737
      @bobbyedal2737 День назад

      I can tell you the last safety recall I had for my 650i was the battery cable connection. Risk Of Fire. It needs checking and reworking if necessary but if you look on the government website for taxing your car, you should be able to see if your car has any recalls marked up against it by typing in your registration . Hope this helps.

      @@bobbyedal2737 Thanks, I replaced my battery a couple of years ago, original 2008 battery. Connections etc looked pristine. I'll have a better look to make sure. Timm sounded like chafing was the issue, but not sure from which cable or where exactly.

      @bobbyedal2737 6 часов назад

      @@KimCJorgensen like I said. Check the government website. They will tell you what recalls you're car has. If there is none, then they have already been done or your year of car is not affected by the issue

    Whats the expected life of a Cam shaft sensor? I had this exact problem on my E31 some years back, had it replaced. Drove the car for a few years after and then it's been off road (in storage) since, so I am wondering how long the new sensor should last before I might expect to perhaps meet this problem again? What a wonderful channel and stunning knowledge of classic BMW's. Please do keep going Tim.

BytheWay => I love this rear window for longer trips in summertime on the "Autobahn" in certain climate conditions => you get much better "fresh" air as from the air-condition and you have nearly no noise => E64 => best car evert!

    Hello Timm, watching your video I just get an impulse to go down to the garage and have a look at the timing-chain in my 650 cab, cause my last Oil-Change must be years ago... => ...is it a "bad sign", if the aluminum of the bearing-housing beside the chain is still clear (and looks silver-grey like aluminum-cast is looking when it's new) => so mine has no "golden curtain" in front? (...as seen in your video ;-) My 650 is from 2006, bought it in 2010 with 60.000km and drove it until 2013 up to about 90.000km Since then I only drove few 100km per year = about 5.000km in total (due to wife, kids, house, garden, etc :-) Watching your clip I got feelings to change my oil immediately => but looking at the attached sticker "...last Oil-Change in 2015" => I think I can rest down for one year and reach the "Decade" ;-) P.S.: nice Color of yours (it's "Barbera rot metallic", right ?) - mine is "Malachit-Grün" (would say: black-green-mineralic-flittering) with black "Pearl-Leather" E64's are like good wines - the older they get - the better they are !!!

    Hello! Just discovered your channel. I live in the US (California) and have a 1993 850Ci that I love, 3rd owner, 135K miles, had it since 2007 and, as my mechanic says, I will be buried in it - not due to accident but because I will never let it go. I knew that jumping was a bad idea, but since mine is currently dead due to being out of town and not driving it and so happy I saw your video. I will invest in 2 new batteries to be safe. An aside, I watched your vid of getting your car back after accident and you mentioned the headliner sagging. I just got mine done at my local BMW specialist (Coast Motor Werk) and it looks amazing - they did an ultrasuede that matches my gray interior perfectly and apparently will "never" sag. They did an amazing job. I also had the bushings replaced since apparently my engine was resting on my exhaust system. Very different drive after, and I'm not sure I like it since I was not used to a bouncy ride. Mine is silver OG color that is super faded. I am considering Techno Violet (individual color) but love the Maura metallic that you have. Thank you for the videos and the detailed information.
